The Friends AGM will be held at 7.00pm,
Friday 13th April 2018 at St Marys Church Sundridge

The Friends AGM will be held at 7.00pm on Friday 13th April 2018 at St Marys Church Sundridge. The formal part of the AGM is usually brief, the committee for the coming year will be elected and new commitee members are very welcome! The Chairman, Ken Ludlam will give us an overview of the activities of the Friends during the past twelve months and the projects the Friends have supported. The treasurer will present the examined acccounts and commend their adoption to the membership for approval. Once the formalities of the AGM are complete we can all relax and enjoy Irena’s talk “Hermann von Pückler-Muskau”.

Hermann von Pückler-Muskau was a German Prince, an adventurer, fortune hunter, successful writer, traveller and Germany’s equivalent of Capability Brown. Pückler created two parks which are now Unesco world heritage sites. He was quite a man, womaniser, charmer by turns and spent a few years in England. There are lots of quirky anecdotes and scandal to be told. Irena first came across his graffiti all over Egypt and Sudan and visited his two châteaux and parks on the German- Polish border. There is no doubt it will be a wonderful talk. To finish the evening there will be light refreshments served and time to talk to Friends Old and New.

Guildhall visit

The Friends have arranged a guided tour of Guildhall on Thursday 17th May. The tour lasts for between an hour to an hour and a half and will include the major features of the building, including the Great hall and the Crypt. The tickets are £10.00 each for members, £13.00 for non members.

Applications for tickets from: [email protected] or by telephone 01959 563421

Numbers are strictly limited and preference will be given to members. In case of over-subscription places will be drawn by lot.

Fever Pitch

We are very fortunate that Fever Pitch have agreed to come to St Marys Sundridge to give a concert on Saturday 15th September. Fever Pitch has been providing professional groups of singers for fifteen years. With a flexible number of voices, from 4 to 40, we can draw upon our repertoire of early music, madrigals & classical, through to folk songs, Gershwin, Beatles & beyond. They have sung at many prestigious events over the years and it is a real treat that they have agreed come to Sundridge. Details of timing and the programme to follow.
